JAKARTA – Korindo Foundation has again teamed up with the Pancoran District puskesmas on stunting prevention. A seminar and a nutrition kit distribution ceremony were held last Tuesday (6/30/2026) at the puskesmas as part of the Foundation’s Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) initiative.

It’s everyone’s responsibility to ensure children grow normally, said Korindo Foundation’s General Manager, Setiyono. This responsibility requires consistent support for and participation in preventive work.

“Thank you, the Pancoran District puskesmas, for the opportunity to work together. [We need to] mitigate this condition early, as early as the prenatal period through proper nutrition,” Setiyono added.

Stunting prevention has been a focus of Korindo Foundation since 2016, when supplemental food assistance was first given to 30 posyandus (maternal and child health services) in Pancoran District. The Foundation distributed milk, biscuits, mung bean porridge, boiled eggs, and sliced fruit for toddler consumption, and added extra quantities specifically for children with very low weightor who are categorized as “below the red line” on their growth charts.

This initiative continued throughout and after the pandemic in partnership with the Pancoran District puskesmas. Between 2021 and 2023, there were regular donations of supplementary meal ingredients and online seminars on the dangers and early detection of stunted growth for Family Welfare Movement (PKK) and Dasawisma cadres.

In 2024, “nutrition kits” for pregnant mothers featuring mung beans, palm sugar, milk, pregnancy biscuits, and fresh eggs were launched and delivered across six subdistricts within Pancoran District. These kits were continuously provided for four consecutive months, as recommended by the Ministry of Health.

Each kit, tailored to fulfil 70% of the mothers’ additional daily nutritional requirements, has helped those with chronic energy deficiency (CED) increase their weight from below-average levels.

CED is a nutritional issue stemming from long-term imbalance between energy intake and expenditure and is marked by an upper arm circumference below 23.5 cm. It carries the risks of difficult labor, premature birth, bleeding during delivery, anemia, and even maternal death — making the kits highly valuable to the beneficiaries.

“This nutrition kit has been incredibly helpful in meeting my pregnancy dietary needs. I hope this kind of support continues so more mothers can benefit from it and their babies can grow up healthy,” said kit recipient Afifah Nur Aina.

More than an aid program, Korindo Foundation’s initiative is a reminder that preventing stunting starts with enough dietary intake, proper education, and community support. The Foundation hopes that its work with the Pancoran District puskesmas can improve the effectiveness and sustainability of stunting preventive measures, thereby ushering in a healthier, better-equipped generation of Indonesians.
