JAKARTA – Anita can’t help feeling giddy when the employee blood drive comes around. Even after four years of donating, it has continued to bring her “indescribable satisfaction”, said the cleaning service staff. She sees the activity as a true show of community care more than a regular social function.

“I feel grateful that a drop of my blood can help people. It’s something small, but carries a lot of impact. And [somehow] my body feels better, almost lighter, after donating.”

Sharing the sentiment are Mayang Regina and Reza Khairul Kahfi, who acknowledged their participation is helping them boost their own health, besides that of others.

“This is my first time joining the blood drive, so the past week I’ve been eating healthy, getting a lot of protein in. I’ll definitely attend again next year, I feel doing this will benefit people out there,” said Mayang, who comes from the IT Department.

Reza, a member of the HRD&GA Department, added, “First, donating blood is good for others. Second, [it’s good for health.] I’ve been a donor three times, and after each time my body would feel fresher.”

Anita, Mayang, and Reza were among dozens present at “Korindo Blood Drive: One Drop of Blood, One Million Hopes For All” that Tuesday (10/21). The annual event secured around 83 blood bags, which were later delivered to the nearest Indonesian Red Cross branch for processing and storage.

Each bag will be inspected at the facility to ensure its safety for patients in need.

This process includes screening the blood for infectious diseases. Once declared safe, the bags will be stored in the Indonesian Red Cross blood bank for future distribution to hospitals or other health facilities.

Blood donation, as Anita said, is beyond a social event. It’s a lifesaver, especially for those needing transfusions due to accidents, major surgeries, chronic illnesses, or conditions like thalassemia and anemia. Many people view this as the most tangible way to contribute socially, as it provides a chance at life to people in critical condition.

The Korindo Blood Drive closely aligns with Korindo Group’s Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) principles, representing empathy, real action, and genuine community care. Donors not only offer hope to others, but also support their own health and deepen community bond. (PR)
