History and Background of Korindo Foundation

The Korindo Foundation’s history is deeply intertwined with the Korindo Group’s corporate journey, which started over half a century ago in Indonesia. Founded with a vision of social responsibility, the Korindo Foundation was established to reflect the success of its parent conglomerate. It channels benefits directly to the Indonesian populace, embodying the principles of reciprocation and a commitment to enhancing societal well-being.

In its early days, the Korindo Foundation focused on educational assistance, recognizing education’s critical role in societal development. For example, in 2021, the foundation distributed 40 packs of staple food to honorarium teachers at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Pancoran Urban Village, South Jakarta. This act highlighted the foundation’s commitment to alleviating financial burdens on educators in underprivileged regions.

The foundation’s CSR initiatives also extend beyond education. They are involved in health, environmental sustainability, and community development. A notable project is the establishment of a bioconversion waste processing facility at Cibubur Rest Area, capable of handling up to 1 ton of organic waste per day. This facility employs black soldier fly-based bioconversion technology, aiding in efficient waste management and production of high-protein feed for fish and poultry.

The foundation’s environmental efforts also include funding a similar waste processing plant in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, in 2017. This plant has a capacity to process 4 tons of waste daily. These projects demonstrate the foundation’s commitment to tackling environmental challenges and promoting sustainable practices.

The Korindo Foundation’s CSR programs are comprehensive, targeting key sectors such as education, health, economics, environment, and infrastructure. This multi-pronged strategy reflects Korindo’s transition from solely educational assistance to a holistic approach towards societal enhancement. This journey has carved a significant niche for the Korindo Foundation in Indonesia’s socioeconomic development landscape, embodying a model of corporate social responsibility.
