JAKARTA, JANUARY 21, 2022 – Korindo Group through the Korindo Foundation has once again sent Indonesian students to Yonsei University, South Korea, through the program of Yonsei University Exchange Program 2022. The scholarship handover was officially held at Korindo Group Headquarters, Jakarta, on Friday (21/1).
Doddy Darmadi, a student of the Department of Communication Studies of University of Indonesia (UI) was selected to be the recipient. Through this scholarship, he will have an opportunity to experience being a student of Yonsei University for two semesters or approximately 10 months. For that duration as well, Korindo Foundation will bear the travel cost and living cost during his stay there.
The General Secretary of Korindo Foundation Seo Jeongsik hoped that the Yonsei University Exchange Program could provide great benefits for the recipients of the scholarship and UI. “I hope this opportunity can be used as best as possible, so it would bring satisfactory results,” he said.
The program, which is known as Yonsei University Exchange Program, has been initiated since 2003 and is a regular program of Korindo Foundation. It is recorded that more than 20 students from UI had joined the student exchange program to Yonsei University.
Meanwhile, the Director of Student Affairs at UI Badrul Munir expressed his appreciation to Korindo Foundation for its continuous contribution in facilitating the high-achieving young generation to study in South Korea.
Badrul hoped that the students would have a valuable opportunity to seek knowledge and experience as much as possible through this scholarship. “South Korea is one of the Asian superpowers that excel in various fields. Scholarship recipients must be able to gain experience as much as possible there,” he said.
Deep gratitude was also expressed by Doddy. According to him, the educational assistance provided by Korindo Foundation is very beneficial for students who are less fortunate to be able to see the world more broadly.
Doddy revealed that he was born into a family with financial instability. The situation was worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic, when most economic and social activities was restricted. He had to work to pay for his college.
He mentioned that being a scholarship recipient of Yonsei University Exchange Program is a big gift. “I am grateful to Korindo Foundation for providing access to education in overseas, which for me was an impossible thing before,” he said.
Doddy promised to make use of this opportunity as best as possible. He is also committed to giving his best effort while studying at Yonsei University, so he can bring pride to Indonesia, UI, and Korindo Foundation.
Yonsei University Exchange Program is one of several social contributions from Korindo Foundation in the field of education. Other regular programs include educational assistance for outstanding students in five State Universities (PTN) in Indonesia and scholarships for high-achieving children of Korindo Group employees.
This series of activities is expected to help create an equal access to education in Indonesia and give impact in improvement of human resources (HR) with high competitiveness. (pr)
